Measles update 3/25/2025

We have been receiving many calls from our patients regarding their measles vaccination status.

For all patients, older than 12 months of age, you should have received one dose of the MMR vaccine which is 93%-95% effective. Those who are 4 years and older should have received two doses of the MMR vaccine which is 97%-99% effective.

If you are fully vaccinated and are exposed to measles and have a normal immune system, there is nothing to do but to monitor for symptoms in the next 21 days. It is very unusual for a fully vaccinated individual to contract measles.

If you are older than 6 months but under 12 months and will be traveling out of the country or to an area with measles outbreak, you should contact our office to discuss receiving the MMR vaccine at least 2 weeks prior to travel.

If you are older than 12 months but under 4 years, and will be traveling out of the country or to an area with measles outbreak, you should contact our office to discuss receiving the 2nd MMR vaccine at least 2 weeks before travel.
